One way to see the world …

My freelance photography began as practice, to capture in-focus pictures of running soccer players, but blossomed into a passion that contributed to bringing one World Cup, a professional league for men and the women’s team global dominance to this country in the sport. I was photographer for the men’s national team during Italia ‘90, the first time the U.S. qualified in 40 years. Through collaboration and innovation, working with Soccer America, FIFA, and the World Cup Organizing Committee it happened. I left journalism briefly to work in sports management and education at CONCACAF, a confederation of FIFA. When I started the operating budget was $300,000, by the time I moved on less than two years later, it was $30 million and counting.

I found these images and remember the moments. Somewhat unbelievable that a girl with modest means could witness the people and events. More photos to come.
